Preview: Commonwealth Classic @ Hidden Creek CC

On Monday-Tuesday, July 17-18, the PKBGT returns to action with the 2017 Commonwealth Classic at Hidden Creek Country Club.  The event features a field of 26 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour in the country.  There are five different states represented in the tournament.

Featured in the 10 player Bell Series are Lena Capoccia (Bethesda, MD 2018) and Haley Quickel (Middletown, DE 2020). Lena is currently ranked 67th in the PKBGT Bell National Series Order of Merit and finished T9 in the PKBGT Masters presented by Aunt Ruby’s Peanuts at Greenville CC. Haley is currently ranked 113th on the PKBGT Bell National Series Order of Merit and finished 20th at the Precision Jr. Girls’ Championships at Bryan Park GC. They look to continue their success next week at the Commonwealth Classic.

Featured in the 16 player Futures Series are, Katie Park (Fairfax, VA 2022), Hannah Jonely (Ashburn, VA 2020), and Julie Shin (Brambleton, VA 2022). Katie is currently ranked 5th in the PKBGT Futures National Series Order of Merit and finished T7 in the PKBGT Open Championship presented by Bargray at CC of Salisbury. Hannah is currently ranked 8th in the PKBGT Futures National Series Order of Merit and finished 8th in the Precision Jr. Girls’ Championships at Bryan Park GC. Julie is currently ranked 51st in the PKBGT Futures National Series Order of Merit and is coming off of a 1st place finish at the MA One-Day Series at Shenandoah Valley GC. They look to continue their success next week at the Commonwealth Classic.

Awards will be presented to the top-five players in each series.  We look forward to a great event!

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
