Recap: Moore, Zou, E. Wang Wins the Middle Atlantic One-Day Series @ Univ. of Maryland GC

On July 15, 2017 the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the Middle Atlantic One-Day Series event at the University of Maryland’s golf course.  The course is home to the men’s and women’s Terps golf teams and will return as a tour stop of the PKBGT.  One-day tournaments are University of Maryland GCdesigned for golfers of all skill levels, but are a great place for development golfers to “get in to the swing of things” playing tournament golf.  The goal of One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course.  The tournament features a field of 35 players and will include the Prep, Futures, and Discovery Series.

Winning the Prep Series is Anna Moore (Wilmington, NC 2018). Moore finished the day with a score of 84. Only one stroke back in a tie for second is Michelle Cabotaje (Fort Washington, MD 2018) and Katie Park (Fairfax, VA 2022), each with a score of 85. Finishing in fourth place is Hannah Hankim (Potomac, MD 2021) with a score of 88.

Playoff! We had a tie for first after the regulation round between Alice Zou (Potomac, MD 2022) and Julie Shin (Brambleton, VA 2022) both finishing with scores of 3 over par, 74. The playoff went to hole one where Alice won with a par. finishing in third place and only one shot out of the playoff was Faith McIlvain (Ellicott, City, MD 2020) with a score of 4 over par, 75. Finishing in fourth place was Emma Chen (Derwood, MD ) with a score of 5 over par, 76.

Winning the Discovery Series is Emily Wang (McIean, VA 2024) with her impressive score of 4 over par, 40. Only one shot back was Josephine Nguyen (Springfield, VA 2024) with a score of 5 over par 41.

Congratulations to all the top finishers this weekend! The PKBGT is back in action this Monday and Tuesday for the Commonwealth Classic @ Hidden Creek CC in Reston, VA!!

The PKBGT has partnered with the Middle Atlantic PGA and will host events in Virginia and Maryland.  The series will feature three divisions: Prep, Futures, and Discovery.  On the day of each of the Middle Atlantic Series events, players are welcome to attend our “Introduction to Tournament Golf” workshops.  The workshops are designed to promote and increase participation among middle and high school age developmental female golfers.  Topics covered at the workshops will include learning to become comfortable playing competitive golf, learning basic rules of golf, and building confidence on the course.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers affordable, high-quality nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
