On June 17, 2017 the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the Middle Atlantic One-Day Series event at Shenandoah Valley GC, located in Front Royal, VA. One-day tournaments are designed for golfers of all skill levels, but are a great place for development golfers to “get in to the swing of things” playing tournament golf. The goal of One-Day Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course. The tournament featured a field of 21 players and included the Prep, Futures, and Discovery Series.
Winning the Prep Series is Jessica Rathbone (Montpelier, VA 2020). Jessica finished her round today at 8 over par, 80. There was a two-way tie for second place, both players shooting 84. Hannah Hankim (Potomac, MD 2021) clinched second place. Finishing in third place was Hannah Jonely (Ashburn, VA 2020). Rounding out the top four was Alexis DiZinno (Alexandria, VA 2018) with a score of 86.

The PKBGT has partnered with the Middle Atlantic PGA and will host five one-day events in Virginia and Maryland. The series will feature three divisions: Prep, Futures, and Discovery. On the day of each of the Middle Atlantic Series events, players are welcome to attend our “Introduction to Tournament Golf” workshops. The workshops are designed to promote and increase participation among middle and high school age developmental female golfers. Topics covered at the workshops will include learning to become comfortable playing competitive golf, learning basic rules of golf, and building confidence on the course.
