Update: Record Breaking Round Puts Wotnosky in Lead at TOC

Round One of the 2016 PKBGT Tournament of Champions is in the books!

In the Bell Series, Haeley Wotnosky (Wake Forest, NC 2018) shoots a record breaking round with bogey free 68!  Wotnosky has a four shot lead over Amanda Sambach (Davidson, NC 2021) who shot even par 72.  Both players played Pinehurst No. 8consistently all day, making plenty of pars.  Not far behind and in third is Caroline Cahill (Wilmington, NC 2017) with a score of 2 over par, 74.  In a tie for fourth place with a score of 4 over, 76  are Rachel Kuehn (Asheville, NC) & Lauren Freyvogel (Gibsonia, PA).   It is still anyone’s game in the Bell Series;  with an elite field by chasing her down.

Leading the Prep Series is Emelia Pack (Browns Summit, NC 2019) with a score of four over, 76.  Close behind in second in second and only three shots out of first is Elizabeth Coffren (Owings, MD 2020) with a score of 79.  Tied for third place in the Prep Series are two players, Grace Jones (Hayesville, NC 2020) and Katie Park (Fairfax, VA 2022) each with an 80 for their first round.  We look forward to a dramatic finish in each division!

The  start of December brings together 60 champions from the previous year on the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour.  Each player has earned their position in the PKBGT Tournament of Champions field thanks to their top finishes over the past 12 months.  This year’s Tournament of Champions is being contested at one of the top courses in the country, Pinehurst No. 8, in Pinehurst, North Carolina.  Players from nine different states including North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, and Arizona will tee it up to claim the PKBGT Tournament of Champions title!

Play will conclude on Sunday, December 4th with a 9:48 AM double tee start.  Awards will go to the top-six finishers in both the Bell and Prep Series.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
