Update: Coffren, E. Chen Leading Maryland Classic @ Laytonsville GC

On Saturday, May 6, the 2017 the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour plays the Maryland Classic at Laytonsville Golf Course in Gaithersburg, MD.  It is the first time that the PKBGT has hosted an event at the course.  The weather was somewhat of a challenge but the girls pushed through the winds and light rain to finish round one. Laytonsville Golf Club

Leading the Bell Series is Elizabeth Coffren (Owings, MD 2020) is leading the way here at the Maryland Classic with a two stroke lead with a score of 3 over, 75. In second place is Diana Cristina Domenech (Richmond, VA 2018) with a score of 5 over par,  77. Holding the third place spot is Sophie Simon (Potomac, MD 2021) after a round of 80 . In fourth place after day one is Sydney Leyerle (Helena, OH 2021) wit a score of 83.

Leading the Futures Series is Emma Chen (Derwood, MD) with a four stroke lead with a score of 4 over, 76. In second place, Sue Lee (Lorton, VA) finished with a score of 8 over, 80. Close behind, Katie Park (Fairfax, VA) finished with a score of 82. In fourth place after day one was Kayleigh Zeman (Silver Spring, MD) with a score of 13 over, 85.

The weather is looking better tomorrow with partly cloudy skies and should be a great day for an exciting finish!

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers affordable, high-quality nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf. The PKBGT is the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 500 members in 2016 and  over 450 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.
