Recap: Coffren, E. Chen, Wins the Maryland Classic @ Laytonsville GC

On Sunday, May 7, the 2017 the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour plays the Maryland Classic at Laytonsville Golf Course in Gaithersburg, MD.  It is the first time that the PKBGT has hosted an event at the course.  The weather cleared out and gave way to sunny skies for the final round. Laytonsville Golf Club

Winning the Bell Series was Elizabeth Coffren (Owings, MD 2020)  after an exciting playoff against Diana Cristina Domenech (Richmond, VA 2018). Both girls shot a 152 total after trading scores from the first day.  Coming  in third place spot is Sophie Simon (Potomac, MD 2021) after improving her score from yesterday by four strokes with a two day total of 80-76-156 . Finishing in fourth place with a score of 84-81-165 was Jillian Drinkard (Appomattox, VA 2018). Rounding out the top 5 in fifth place was Sydney Leyerle (Helena, OH 2021) with a two day total of 83-86-196.

Winning the Futures Series was Emma Chen (Derwood, MD 2022) after firing a even par round of 72 today! Emma finished the tournament with a two day total of 76-72-148. In second place, Sue Lee (Lorton, VA 2022) finished with a two day score of 80-79-159.  Close behind, Katie Park (Fairfax, VA 2022) finished with a scores of 82-80-162. In fourth place was Andera Chen (Rockvile, MD 2019) after coming from behind with a two day total of 88-83-171. Rounding out the top five in fifth place was Kayleigh Zeman (Silver Spring, MD 2020) with a two day total 85-87-172.

The PKBGT will make our next stop for a two day tournament is at the PKBGT Open Championship at the Country Club of Salisbury in Salisbury, NC!

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers affordable, high-quality nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
