Recap: Record Setting Victory for Hodge 2016 PKBGT INVITATIONAL

On Monday, November 14, the 2016 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the final round of the 2016 PKBGT INVITATIONAL at Grandover Resort (West Course). The culmination of a year’s worth of tournaments has finally brought us to the PKBGT’s most prestigious event of the year–the 2016 Invitational.The field for this year’s event features players from 13 different states, making it one of the most diverse fields the PKBGT has ever seen for a single tournament.  Players have earned their spot into the Invitational by finishing at the top of the PKBGT Orders of Merit, winning their state championship, playing in Invitational qualifiers, or earning an at-large bid.

Grandover Resort (East)The Champion of the 2016 PKBGT INVITATIONAL is Caroline Hodge (Larchmont, NY 2018)!

Caroline finished the third and final round with a score of 3 over, 75 and a 54 hole score of even par 216. She also set the new 54 hole record for the PKBGT INVITATIONAL. Congratulations Caroline!

Finishing in second by one shot was the 2016 Bell Series Order of Merit Champion Emily Hawkins (2018, Lexington, NC) after firing a two under, 70 today and a three day total of 217.   Finishing in a tie for third  was Yurika Tanida (Port St. Lucie, FL 2017) and Amanda Sambach (Davidson, NC 2021) with a three day total of 223.  Four girls finished in a tie for fifth with a score of 225; Rebecca DiNunzio (Norfolk, VA 2019), Keri Kenkel (Charlotte, NC 2017), Rachel Kuehn (Asheville, NC 2019), and Anna McDonald Hickory, NC 2019)

Our top 3 finishers also receive an invitation to the PKBGT Tournament Of Champions at Pinehurst No. 8. Congratulations to Caroline Hodge, Emily Hawkins, and Yurika Tanida!

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
