Recap: Stoerker, Schafhauser, Hughes Win GA One-Day at Braelinn GC

On Saturday, April 22, the 2017 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the inaugural GA One-Day Open Series at Braelinn GC . The goal of One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course. The event features a field of 11 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour.

The Champion of the Prep Series by two shots was Catherine Stoerker (Cumming, GA 2020) firing an 81. She was followed closely by Morgan Ellison (Peachtree City, GA 2021) with her score of  83. Rounding out the top three was Liz Eubanks (Peachtree City, GA 2019) onloy one stroke back with an 84.  

In the Futures Series, Julia Schafhauser (Fayetteville, GA 2021) shot the low round of the day with and 81. Following her in second with an 88 was Bridget Hoang (Lawerenceville, GA 2021). Rounding out the top-3 was Katherine Mitchell (Preachtree City, GA 2019) in her PKBGT debut.

In the Discovery Series, Pearl Hughes (Dawsonville, GA 2027) started her PKBGT debut with a win after firing a 7 over par 43. Coming in second place was Jaclyn Reid (Fayetteville, GA 2024) with a score of 55. Rounding out the top 3 was Sarah Sanabia (Acworth, GA 2024) with a score of 56.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers affordable, high-quality nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf. The PKBGT is the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 450 members in 2015 and 450 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.
