On Saturday-Sunday, April 22-23, the 2017 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour plays the PKBGT MASTERS at Greenville Country Club. Greenville Country Club, home of the East Carolina University Pirates women’s golf team, is a classic course for this two-day tournament. The event features a field of 71 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour. In 2016, Callista Rice (Mars Hill, NC 2017) claimed the title by 5 strokes with steady play both days finishing with a 4-over par 2-day total of 150. The event is the third championship tournament of the 2017 season.
The Bell Series field features a full field of 30 golfers, highlighted by 5 of the top-30 players on the PKBGT Performance Index, including: Lauren Freyvogel (Gibsonia, PA 2019) ranked 3rd, Amanda Sambach (Davidson, NC 2021) ranked 4th, Kathryn Carson (Mooresville, NC 2017) ranked 8th, Riley Smyth (Cary, NC 2018) ranked 21th, and Kendall Turner (Chesapeake, VA 2019) ranked 25th. Other standout players in the field include: Anna McDonald (Hickory, NC 2019), Woo Wade (Dunwoody, GA 2019), and Hailey Freedman (Chapel Hill, NC 2017).
The Prep Series features a field of 22 girls, highlighted by some of the top-15 players on the Storie Apparel Order of Merit, including: Charleigh Hodges (Mooresville, NC 2018) ranked 4th, Caroline Duggan (Holly Springs, NC 2019) ranked 9th, Alexia Siehl (Fort Mill, SC 2022) ranked T-11th, Jinny Park (Fairfax, VA 2019) ranked 14th, and Nicole Kramer (Charlotte, NC 2018) ranked 15th. Additional players to watch include Jessica Rathbone (Montpelier, VA 2020) and Jayla Rogers (Wilmington, NC 2019).
The Futures Series field features 23 golfers, highlighted by 6 of the top-10 players on the 2017 Futures PKBGT Order of Merit list, including: Maria Atwood (Holly Springs, NC 2022) ranked 3rd, Trinity Muthomi (Kernersville, NC 2022) ranked 4th, Tatum Walsh (Midlothian, VA 2021) ranked 5th, Hannah Nall (Cleveland, TN 2022) ranked 6th, Katie Park (Fairfax, VA 2022) ranked 8th, Carson Jenkins (Raleigh, NC 2019) ranked 9th. Additional players to watch are Erin Singleton (Apex, NC 2020), Grace Holcomb (Wilmington, NC 2021), Harper Shepherd (Greensboro, NC 2021), Katelyn Kenthack (Pinehurst, NC 2020), and Megan Morris (Cary, NC 2021).
The PKBGT MASTERS at Greenville Country Club brings together players from Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, Delaware, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. It should be a great tournament! Who will be golden?
The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers affordable, high-quality nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
