Recap: Smith, Meric Win NC One-Day @ Forest Oaks CC

On Saturday, April 15, 2017 the PKBGT played the NC One-Day Series at Forest Oaks Country Club in Greensboro, NC.  This course is known for the PGA Tour event that was held there for 30 years: the Wyndham Championship, formerly known as the Greater Greensboro Chrysler Classic, and the Greater Greensboro Open (GGO).  This is also a preview event for the 2017 PKBGT season.

Winning the NC Prep Series after the first playoff hole with a round of 75 was Kayla Smith (Burlington, NC 2019).  In second place also with a 75 was Taylor Hinson (Belmont, NC 2017).  In third place matching cards with a 79 was Samantha Debusk (Lexington, NC 2017).  In fourth place with a 79 was Sasha Hayes (Winston-Salem, NC 2020.

Winning the NC Futures Series this week was Layla Meric (Wesley Chapel, NC 2022) with a 78.  In second place by one stroke was Kayla Dowell (Mebane, NC 2021) with a 79.  In third place was Trinity Muthomi (Kernersville, NC 2022) with an 80.  In fourth place with an 83 was Katelyn Kenthack  (Pinehurst, NC 2020).

The PKBGT returns to action next weekend April 22nd and 23rd with the Masters Tournament.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
