On Saturday-Sunday, March 25-26, the PKBGT will host the Boar’s Head Inn Classic at the Birdwood Golf Course at UVA. Birdwood, home to the University of Virginia women’s golf team, is an classic course with tricky, undulating greens and a wonderful host for this two-day tournament. The tournament features a field of 63 players from nine different states.
Winning the Bell Series was Lauren Freyvogel (Gibsonia, PA 2019) with two solid rounds of 72-73-145. The runner-up was Jennifer Cleary (Wilmington, DE 2020) with rounds of 75-72-147. In third place was Kaitlyn Lees (Bryn Mawr, PA 2018) with rounds of 77-75-152. In fourth place was Esther Park (Wilmington, DE 2019) with rounds of 76-80-156. In fifth was Rylie Heflin (Avondale, PA 2021) with rounds of 78-80-158.
Winning the Futures Series was Jessica Rathbone (Montpelier, VA 2020) with rounds of 79-77-156. In second place was Parker Perry (Richmond, VA 2020) with rounds of 79-83-162. Finishing in a three-way tie for third was Hannah Jonely (Ashburn, VA 2020), Lauren Artis (Upper Marlboro, MD 2019) and Katie Park (Fairfax, VA 2022) each with a 170 total for the tournament.
The PKBGT will return to action on Saturday and Sunday April 1-2 with the North Carolina Classic and the Women’s Health Symetra Tour Challenge!
The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers affordable, high-quality nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf. The PKBGT is the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 450 members in 2015 and 450 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.
