Preview: Boar’s Head Inn Classic at UVA

On Saturday-Sunday, March 25-26 the  PKBGT will host the Boar’s Head Inn Classic at the Birdwood Golf Course at UVA.  Birdwood, home to the University of Virginia women’s golf team, is an classic course with tricky, undulating greens and a wonderful host for this two-day tournament.  The tournament features a field of 63 players from nine different states.Birdwood Country Club at UVA

Featured in the Bell Series this weekend are Lauren Freyvogel (Gibsonia, PA 2019), Grace Huffman (Lexington, VA  2018), and Katherine Schuster (Kill Devil Hills, NC 2021).  Freyvogel, is coming into the UVA event after two Top-5 finishes at the Tar Heel Classic and PKB Foundation classic, she is highly ranked on the PKBGT Performance Index at eleventh, and one of the players to qualify for the Women’s Health Jr. Challenge in April.  Huffman is making her first start of the 2017 calendar year after her strong performance at the PKBGT Tournament of Champions where she finished 3rd. Schuster is looking to continue her strong play after finishing runner-up at the Tar Heel Classic and a Top-5 finish at the Eagle Classic in Georgia.

Featured in the Futures Series are Katie Park (Fairfax, VA 2022) and Abby Hunter (Blacksburg, VA 2021). Park  is coming off of a runner-up finish at Tar Heel Classic and looks to extend her great playing, she is also ranked 8th on the Futures National Order of Merit. Hunter is ranked 20th on the Futures National Order of Merit and and finished 3rd at the PKB Foundation Classic at the end of January.

Awards will be presented to the top-five finishers in both series at the completion of play on Sunday.  We look forward to another great PKBGT event and welcome all of our new players and PKB families!

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers affordable, high-quality nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
