Recap: Petersen, Lyerly Win Carolina’s Jr. Mixed Team Challenge @ MacGregor Downs

The PKBGT is excited to pair up with the Tarheel Golf Foundation for the Mixed Team Challenge at MacGregor Downs Country Club!  This is the first year that the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour has hosted a mixed team event in conjunction with the Tarheel Golf Foundation.  The team of Nick Lyerly and Natalie Petersen were the inaugural winners of the event, shooting a best ball total of four-under 68.  The second and third place teams where one shot off the lead at 69.  Those teams were made up of Olivia John and Tripp Summerlin and Riley Hamilton and Austin Tate.  MacGregor Downs CC

Macgregor Downs CC was founded in 1967 and played host to the 1973 PGA Match Play Championship and the first Collegiate Amateur Championship.  In 2005 the course was named  among the top-50 courses in North Carolina.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers affordable, high-quality nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf. The PKBGT is the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 450 members in 2015 and 450 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.
