The PKBGT returns to action on February 13-14 with the Rocket Tour Players Championship at the University of Georgia Golf Course. The course is home to the University of Georgia Bulldogs women’s golf team. The course also hosts the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic which is the oldest women’s collegiate tournament in the southern United States and boasts one of the toughest fields that the women will see all year. In 2013, the course was also host to the Women’s NCAA Division I National Championship. In addition to being an distinguish course in collegiate golf, the course also hosted the PGA Tour Web.com Stadion Classic Golf Tournament from 2010 to 2013. With its rich tournament history, the University of Georgia GC is an esteemed course for the 2016 Rocket Tour Players Championship.

In the 54 player field this weekend are players representing eight different states, including Tennessee, Florida, and New York.  There are a number of new players from Georgia who will make their PKBGT debut in Athens.  The 54 player field is also the largest in Players Championship history.

Playing in the Bell Series is Lauren Lightfritz (Suwanee, GA 2016), Elisa Yang (Norcross, GA 2017) and Alyssa Montgomery (Knoxville, TN 2018).  Lightfritz, who is the defending champion, will play for Mercer on the women’s golf team when she graduates this year.  She is also ranked in the top 200 (166) on Junior Golf Scoreboard.  We’ll see if she can keep her champion’s title by winning again this weekend!  Elisa Yang also has a low ranking on Junior Golf scoreboard at 244 in the country.  She also has a PKBGT Performance Index ranking of 26.  Alyssa Montgomery from Tennessee has a PKBGT Performance Index ranking of 29 and will tee it up with Yang and Lightfritz in Athens.

Playing in the Futures Series fresh off of a second victory this year at the PKB Foundation Classic is Nicole Adam (Pinehurst, NC 2020).  She is currently ranked 61st on the PKBGT Performance Index and will test her skills to make it a third straight win!  Also in the field is Adrian Hopkins (Lawrenceville, GA 2019) and Phoebe Carles (Clinton, SC 2020) who are ranked 122 and 157 respectively on the Performance Index.

We look forward to a great event and welcome our new players to the PKBGT family!
