Recap: Huffman, E. Chen win the MA One-Day Series at Bowling Green CC

On September 10, 2016 the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played Middle Atlantic One-Day Series event at Bowling Green Country Club.  Bowling Green CC is in the northern neck of the Shenandoah Valley, against the backdrop of the striking Blue Ridge Mountains. One-day tournaments are University of Maryland GCdesigned for golfers of all skill levels, but are a great place for development golfers to “get in to the swing of things” playing tournament golf.  The goal of One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course.

Winning the Prep series was Grace Huffman (Lexington, VA 2018) with a round of two over par, 72. Coming in second with a six over par , 76 was Jaden Harman (Harrisonburg, VA 2019). Finishing in third place was Hannah Hankim (Potomac, MD 2021) with a score of 84. In fourth place was Mia Henry (Glenwood. MD 2019) with a score of 98.

Winning the Futures Series after a playoff was Emma Chen (Derwood, MD 2022) with a score of nine over par, 80. Coming in a tie for second place with a matching scorecardsand only one stroke off the leader was Katie Park (Fairfax, VA 2022) and Abby Hunter (Blacksburg, VA 2021) both with an 81. In fourth place was Julie Shin (Brambleton, VA 2022) with a score of 83. Rounding out the top 5 was Sue Lee (Lorton, VA 2022) with a score of 84.

Winning the Discovery Series was Alana Alexander-Giles (Ellicott City, MD 2023) with a score of five over par, 40. In second place with a score of 45 was Kate Patterson (Washington, DC 2023).

The next event of the Middle Atlantic One-Day Series is Saturday, September 24th at the Regency at Dominion Valley in Haymarket, VA!

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
