Recap: Suh, K.Park Win Middle Atlantic One-Day at U. of Maryland

On August 27, 2016 the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played Middle Atlantic One-Day Series event at the University of Maryland’s golf course.  The course is home to the men’s and women’s Terps golf teams and will return as a tour stop of the PKBGT.  One-day tournaments are

University of Maryland GCdesigned for golfers of all skill levels, but are a great place for development golfers to “get in to the swing of things” playing tournament golf.  The goal of One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course.  The PKBGT has partnered with the Middle Atlantic PGA and will host five one-day events in Virginia and Maryland.  The series will feature three divisions: Prep, Futures, and Discovery.

Winning the Prep series was Danielle Suh (Herndon, VA 2020) with a round of six over par, 77. In a tie for second place with matching cards of seven over par, 78 was Jinny Park (Fairfax, VA 2019) and Kayla Perkins (Bethesda, MD 2018). In fourth place with a score of 80 was Aine Kenwood (Potomac. MD 2018). Rounding out the top five was Michelle Cabotaje (Fort Washington, MD) with a score of 83.

Winning the Futures Series after a playoff was Katie Park (Fairfax, VA 2022) with a score of six over par, 77. Coming in second place with a matching scorecard was Sue Lee (Lorton, VA 2022) also with a 77. In third place was Alexandra Williams (Erial, NJ 2018) with a score of 7 over par, 78. Finishing in a tie for fourth was Holly Haber (Stevensville, MD 2019) and Taylor Judge (Queenstown, MD 2018) with matching scorecards of eight over par, 79.

Winning the Discovery Series was Alana Alexander-Giles (Ellicott City, MD 2023) with a score of 42. In second place and one shot back with a score of 43 was Kate Patterson (Washington, DC 2023). In third place with a score of 50 was Mary Williams (Washington, DC 2023) and in fourth place was Chloe Boyd (Glenn Dale, MD 2024) with a score of 55.

The next event of the Middle Atlantic One-Day Series is Saturday, September 10th at Bowling Green CC in Front Royal, VA!

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers affordable, high-quality nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
