Recap: Playoff! Jones, Topiwala Win SC Series Finale @ Cobb’s Glen

On August 27, 2016, the PKBGT played the South Carolina One-Day Series Finale at Cobb’s Glen Country Club.   The South Carolina One-Day tournaments are designed for golfers of all skill levels, but are a great place for development golfers to “get in to the swing of things” playing tournament golf. The goal of  South Carolina One-Day Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course.Cobbs Glen Country Club

Winning the Prep Series was Grace Jones (Hayesville, NC  2020) with a round of 78.  In second place with a score of 80 was Madison Branum (Lexington, SC 2018).  In third place was Emma Reid (Flat Rock, NC 2018) with an 86.  In fourth place with a round of 89 was Elena Jacoby (Huntersville, NC 2019).  In fifth place was Karson Kimsey (Sautee, GA 2017) with a 91.

Winning the Futures Series after a one-hole playoff was Kelley Topiwala (Matthews, NC 2020) with an 84.  In second place also with an 84 was Claire Owens (Charlotte, NC 2019).  In third through fifth place matching cards with rounds of 85 were Telie McCoy, (Early Branch, SC 2019) Amber Amaker (Inman, SC 2019) and Harper Gilreath (Anderson, SC 2017).

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers affordable, high-quality nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf. The PKBGT is the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 450 members in 2015 and 450 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.
