Recap: Branum, Hall win at rain-shortened event at Willow Creek

The PKBGT South Carolina One-Day Series played its 5th of 6 events this Saturday at Willow Creek Country Club in Greer, South Carolina. The Series, sponsored by and in partnership with the Women’s South Carolina Golf Association, has continued to grow momentum throughout the summer. At Willow Creek, the Prep Series event completed all 18 holes while the Futures Series event was shortened due to an afternoon storm.

In the Prep Series, a strong field of 9 girls came out to play some great low scores in the high heat and humidity. In 5th place, with a scorecard playoff, shooting an 78, is Emma Reid (2018) from Flat Rock, NC. Also with a 78 and in 4th place, Taylor Williams (2017) from Lincolnton, NC. In third place, from Davidson, NC, is Alexis Jarrell, who shot a 77. In another strong showing, Abigayle Hatcher (2019) from Roebuck, SC, shot a 76. And another first place finish and win goes to Lexington, SC’s Madison Brannum (2018). Madison fired a 3-over 75.

In the Futures Series, lightning cut the tournament short with more than half the field left with 4 or more holes left to play. So, in our front nine battle, Katie Spurling (2019) from Moore, SC shot a 43 for 5th place. To secure 4th, Isabella Britt (2021) from Chapin, SC shot a42. In third place and starting strong with a38, Telie McCoy (2019) of Early Branch, SC came to play. Also shooting a 38, Mary Kathryn Talledo (2021) of Blythewood, SC won the scorecard playoff for second place. And our Futures 9-hole champion today at Willow Creek, firing even par 36, is Victoria Hall (2018) of Moore, SC.

The PKBGT South Carolina One-Day Series will conclude on Saturday, August 27th at Cobbs Glen Country Club in Anderson, South Carolina.
