Recap: Swords Wins the South Carolina One-Day Series @ Woodside Plantation

On June 18, 2016, the PKBGT concluded the second South Carolina One-Day Series Event at Woodside Plantation Country Club, Aiken SC is . The South Carolina One-Day tournaments are designed for golfers of all skill levels, but are a great place for development golfers to “get into the swing of things” playing tournament golf. The goal of  South Carolina One-Day Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course.

Winning the Futures Series was Emileigh Swords (Liberty, SC 2019) after shooting 9 over par, 81. Runner-up was decided by a scorecard playoff today that went to Carlee Vardas (Lexington, SC 2021) after shooting 11 over par 83. Lauren Martin (Mooresville, NC 2020) finished in third at 11 over par, 83. Rounding out the field in fourth place was Claire Owens (Charlotte, NC 2019) at 13 over par, 85 and in fifth place was Cecelia Knecht (North Charleston, SC 2019) with a 14 over par, 86.

Winning the 9 hole Discovery Series was Ava Romfo (Charleston, SC 2021) with a 9 hole score of 50. Coming in second was our youngest competitor, Kinsley Muns (North Augusta, SC 2024) with a 9 hole score of 67.

The PKBGT South Carolina Series will be back in action in Spartanburg, SC on Saturday, July 2  at The Carolina Country Club!

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers affordable, high-quality nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf. The PKBGT is the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 450 members in 2015 and 450 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.
