Update: Forbrigd Leading after Day 1 of the SRIXON Tour Championship

On Saturday, August 13, the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played round one of the SRIXON® TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP at Greenville CC, This event will wrap up the 2016 PKBGT season. Greenville Country Club is home of the ECU men’s and women’s golf teams.  This is the second year that the Tour Championship will be sponsored by Srixon/Cleveland/XXIO Golf and we are excited to have them as a title sponsor again this year.

Leading the Prep Series after day one is Dorthea Forbrigd (Oslo, Norway 2016) after firing a three under, 69. In second place is Rebecca DiNiunzio (Norfolk, VA 2019) with a score of two over, 74. In third place after shooting three over, 75 is Kendall Turner (Chesapeake, VA 2019). In a tie for fourth after day one is Siranon Shoomee (Sanford, NC 2016) and Amanda Sambach (Davidson, NC 2021) with matching scorecards of four over, 76.

Leading the Futures Series after day one is Sophie Simon (Potomac, MD 2021) with a round one score of one under, 71. Three shots back is Caroline Crumrine (Wilmington, NC 2020) with a score of two over par, 74. In third place is Amanda Kang (Kernersville, NC 2018) with a score of 80. In fourth place with a score of 83 is Ashley Milliken (Monroe, NC 2017) and rounding out the top five is Anna Hillman (Summerfield, NC 2018) with a score of 86.

The SRIXON TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP marks the end of the regular 2016 season. A lot is at stake at this event, including many invitations to the PKBGT INVITATIONAL in November. At the conclusion of the event, invitations to the PKBGT INVITATIONAL will be extended to the top-30 players from the PKBGT 2015 Bell Division Order of Merit rankings, the top-15 players from the 2015 PKBGT Prep Division Order of Merit rankings, the top-five players from the 2015 PKBGT Futures Division Order of Merit Rankings, the top-three players on the 2015 Mid-Atlantic Series Order of Merit, the number one player on the 2015 Futures One-Day Division Order of Merit, and the top-30 finishers on the PKB Performance Index. The PKBGT will also recognize any state junior amateur champion at the Invitational. This tournament will bring together players from Delaware, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. 

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers affordable, high-quality nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf. The PKBGT is the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 375 members in 2013 and 262 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.
