Recap: Play Concludes at 2016 LPGA-USGA Girls Golf Team Championship

On Saturday, July 9, the 2016 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour concluded the LPGA-USGA Girls Golf Team Championship at Golden Horseshoe Golf Club (Green Course) in Williamsburg, VA. The course has served as host to multiple college events and was a great course for this tournament. The event featured a field 36 players from 17 different LPGA-USGA Girls Golf Programs across the country.

The second round of the event will be a Four Ball Stroke Play where each player plays her own ball and the lower score of the two players is the team score each hole. In the Championship Division, Amanda Sambach (Davidson, NC 2021) and Kendall Turner (Chesapeake, VA 2019) shot four under par with a score of 68 to place first with a three-day total of 202. In the Futures Division, Parker Perry (Richmond, VA 2020) and Bailey Vaughn (Glendale, AZ 2022) eight over par with a score of 80 to place first with a two-day total of 151. In the Discovery Division, Kate Barber (Savannah, GA 2025) and Mary Miller (Savannah, GA 2024) one under par with a score of 35 to place first with a two-day total of 71.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers affordable, high-quality nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
