Recap: Capoccia Wins the Black Eyed Susan Classic

On Wednesday, June 29, the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the final round of the Black-Eyed Susan Classic at Green Spring Valley Hunt Club. The course hosted a USGA US Junior Girls Championship and is a fantastic course for Mid-Atlantic Series finale. The top-three finishers in the the Mid-Atlantic Series will receive invitations to the 2016 PKBGT Invitational. This event featured a field 27 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour.

Winning the Prep Series was  Lena Copoccia (Bethesda, MD 2018) after firing 74-79-153 , she won the title on the first playoff hole with a birdie. Coming in second with a matching card of 73-80-153 was Bailey Davis (White Plains, MD 2021). One shot back and placing third was Casey Morrow (Mars, PA 2017) after carding two good rounds of 76-78-154.  Coming in fourth was Kayla Perkins (Bethesda, MD 2018) after firing 73-85-158.  Rounding out the top five was Jenny Hua (Boyds, MD 2020) after shooting 83-77-160.

Winning the Futures Series with two solid rounds of 76-71-147, clear of the field by 14 shots was Sophie Simon (Potomac, MD 2020). In second place with rounds of 81-80-161 was Elizabeth Coffren (Owings, MD 2020).  In third place with rounds of 87-85-172 was Aine Kenwood (Potomac, MD 2018). Finishing in a tie for fourth was Jordan Koller (Brookeville, MD 2018) and Katie Park (Fairfax, VA 2022) after shooting 86-87-173 and 89-84-173 respectively.

The PKBGT will be back in action next at the GIRLS GOLF TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP @ Golden Horseshoe GC on July 7-9!

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
