Preview: Wolfpack Classic at NC State’s Lonnie Poole

On Saturday-Sunday, June 18-19, the 2016 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour plays the Wolfpack Classic at Lonnie Poole Golf Course at NC State University. Lonnie Poole, home to the North Carolina State University women’s golf teams is a demanding course for this two-day tournament. The event features a field 55 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour. 

The Prep Series field features 30 golfers, highlighted by the 2016 Bell Order of Merit  champion, Emily Hawkins (Lexington, NC, 2018), Hawkins is also the current top player in the PKBGT Performance Index. Also in the field is 6 of the top-35 players on the 2016 PKBGT Prep Order of Merit, including: Amanda sambach (Davidson, NC 2021) ranked 1st, Jenna Nagy (Apex, NC 2017) ranked 5th, Callie Montgomery (Maneta, VA 2017) ranked 9th, Alexis Jarrell (Davidson, NC 2018) ranked 16th, Olivia John (Summerfield, NC 2018) ranked 21st, and Mackenzie Battle (Aberdeen, NC 2018) ranked 35th.

The Futures Series field features 24 golfers, highlighted by a 8 of top-25 players on the 2016 PKBGT Futures Series Order of Merit list, including: Lotte Fox (Raleigh, NC 2020) in 5th position, Maria Atwood (Holly Springs, NC 2022) in 6th position, Shalie Williams (Shawboro, NC2018) in 11th position, Mara Hirtle (Pinehurst, NC 2020) in 14th position, Alexia Siehl (Fort Mill, SC 2022) in 15th position, Emily Brubaker (Raleigh, NC 2020) in 17th position, Kasey Owenby (Gastonia, NC 2019) in 19th position, Kelley Topiwala (Matthews, NC  2020) in 25th position. 

The Wolfpack Classic brings together players from North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia. It should be a great event!

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers affordable, high-quality nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf. The PKBGT is the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 450 members in 2015 and 450 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.
