Recap: Schmid, Weinfurther Win Greater Richmond Classic

On Saturday-Sunday, June 11 & 12, the 2016 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the Greater Richmond Classic at Magnolia Green Golf Club. Magnolia Green, was ranked #8 on Golf Digest’s Top 10 2015 Best New Courses, is a Nicklaus Design in association with Tom Clark and a beautiful course for this two-day tournament. The event features a field 29 players from 7 states in the Prep and Futures Series.

Winning the Prep Series and making her PKBGT debut was Priscilla Schmid (Bradenton, FL 2017) with rounds of 76-75-151.  In second place was Kendall Turner (Chesapeake, VA 2019) with rounds of 77-79-156.  In third place was Jessica Rathbone (Montpelier, VA 2020) with 88-79-167.  In fourth place was Haley Quickel (Middletown, DE 2020) with rounds of 83-85-168.  In fifth place Erica Whitehouse (Mechanicsville, VA 2017) with rounds of 84-91-175.

Winning the Futures Series was Rory Weinfurther (Midlothian, VA 2017) with rounds of 72-75-147.  In second place was Paris Fieldings (Suffolk, VA 2023) with rounds of 82-76-158.  In third place was Sophie Simon (Potomac, MD 2020) with rounds of 82-77-159.  In fourth place was Elizabeth Coffren (Owings, MD 2020) with rounds of 84-78-162.  In fifth place was Alyssa Cong (Germantown, MD 2020) with rounds of  86-79-165.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers affordable, high-quality nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
