Update: 3 Share the Lead After Rd 1 of the PKBGT Invitational

Round 1 of the PKBGT Invitational is in the books with three players sharing the lead after a rainy day 1.  Haeley Wotnosky (2018, Wake Forest, NC), Sarina Sonoda (2016, Florence, SC) and Adeena Shears (2016, Elizabeth, WV) all fired 1-over par rounds to share the lead.  Wotnosky & Sonoda both made 4 birdies on the day on their way to 73 while Ohio State University committee Shears made 3 birdies on her way to a 1-over par round.

2015 Prep Series Order of Merit Champion Emily Hawkins (2018, Lexington, NC) and Rachel Kuehn (2019, Asheville, NC) sit 1-shot of the lead at 74.  Rhode Island State Champion Alexis Florio (2018, Cranston, RI) and Lauren Freyvogel (2019, Gibsonia, PA) sit 2 back at 75.

Following play on Sunday, the field will be reduced to the low 33 scores and ties.  Should be an exciting day for MOVING DAY at the PKBGT Invitational!

The culmination of a year’s worth of tournaments has finally brought us to the PKB’s most prestigious event of the year–the 2015 Invitational.Grandover Resort (East) The field for this year’s event features players from 14 different states, making it one of the most diverse fields the PKBGT has ever seen for a single tournament.  Players have earned their spot into the Invitational by finishing at the top of the PKBGT Orders of Merit, winning their state championship, playing in Invitational qualifiers, or earning an at-large bid.  The Grandover Resort East course will be played at 6,200 yards and is expected to be an exciting test for even the best PKBGT juniors.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
