— Live Scoring —

The culmination of a year’s worth of tournaments has finally brought us to the PKB’s most prestigious event of the year–the 2015 Invitational.Grandover Resort (East) The field for this year’s event features players from 14 different states, making it one of the most diverse fields the PKBGT has ever seen for a single tournament.  Players have earned their spot into the Invitational by finishing at the top of the PKBGT Orders of Merit, winning their state championship, playing in Invitational qualifiers, or earning an at-large bid.  The Grandover Resort East course will be played at 6,200 yards and is expected to be an exciting test for even the best PKBGT juniors.

Two decorated PKBGT golfers in the 67-player field are the Spicer Sisters, Sarah and Jessica (Bahama, NC 2016).  Both girls have verbally committed to play golf for the Virginia Tech Hokies in the fall of 2016.  Sarah and Jessica Spicer are each ranked seventh and fifth respectively on the PKBGT Performance Index and both players are ranked inside the top 200 on Junior Golf Scoreboard.  In PKBGT events, Jessica won the 2014 PKB Junior at Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club and placed 3rd in last year’s Invitational.  Sarah finished third at the 2014 PKB Junior and sixth at the 2014 Invitational.

Mercer committee Lauren Lightfritz (Suwanee, GA 2016) is ranked fourth on the PKBGT Performance Index.  She won all three PKBGT events she played in this past spring season.  Lightfritz won the Rocket Tour Players Championship at the University of Georgia, also the Palmetto Classic at USC, and  the Paladin Classic at Furman.  She also won the Georgia State Golf Association Girls’ Junior Championship this June.

Another golfer playing well all year is Amanda Sambach (Davidson, NC 2021).  Sambach lit up the Futures Series circuit this year, never finishing outside of the top-4 in any event she competed in throughout the 2015 season.  Her biggest wins this year came at the Srixon Tour Championship this August at Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club and at the PKBGT NEXT event at Duke University Golf Club in September.  It will be exciting to see how Sambach will tackle the 6200 yard course.

The PKBGT Invitational will kick off this Friday with the Inspire. Dream. Achieve. Banquet at Bryan Park Golf & Conference Center featuring Laura Diaz as our guest speaker.  We will also honor our PKBGT Order of Merit winners of 2015.  Tournament action will begin on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 10am.  You can follow the action live on the 2015 Invitational Tournament page.  We look forward to a great event!
