Recap: Funderburg, Fieldings Win at Pinehurst No. 9

On Saturday, May 21st the PKBGT is set to play the second North Carolina One-Day Series event at Pinehurst No. 9.  The course, designed by Jack Nicklaus in 1988, was the latest course added to Pinehurst Resort.  The course was known as National Golf Club before it was taken over by the resort in 2014.  Players from three states, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia will tee it up in the Sandhills!

Winning the Prep Series was Sarah Funderberg (Willmington, NC 2018) with a round of 73.  The Runner-up was Elizabeth Nguyen (Pinehurst, NC 2017) with a 74.  In third place was Jayla Rodgers (Wilmington, NC 2019) with a 77.  In fourth place with a 78 was Madison Harriman (High Point, NC 2017).  In fifth place with a round of 82 was Mackenzie Battle (Aberdeen, NC 2018) with an 82.

Winning the Futures Series with a round of 77 was Paris Fieldings (Suffolk, VA 2023).  In second place was Katherine Schuster (Kill Devil Hills, NC 2021) with an 80.  In third place was Haley McCrossan (Waxhaw, NC 2018) with an 82.  In fourth and fifth place matching cards with an 83 were Layla Meric (Wesley Chapel, NC 2021) and Audrey Nelson (Charlotte, NC 2019).

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
