Preview: One-Day Series @ Pinehurst No. 9

On Saturday, May 21st the PKBGT is set to play the second North Carolina One-Day Series event at Pinehurst No. 9.  The course, designed by Jack Nicklaus in 1988, was the latest course added to Pinehurst Resort.  The course was known as National Golf Club before it was taken over by the resort in 2014.  Players from three states, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia will tee it up in the Sandhills!

Featured in the Prep Series this weekend are Elizabeth Nguyen (Pinehurst, NC 2017), Sarah Funderberg (Wilmington, NC 2018) and Mackenzie Battle (Aberdeen, NC 2018).  Elizabeth is ranked 46th on the PKBGT Performance Index and 63rd in the Bell Series.  Sarah is ranked 66th on the Performance Index and placed in the top 10 in two PKBGT events this season.  Mackenzie is ranked 73rd on the Performance Index  and had a runner-up finish at the PKB Foundation Classic this year at Mid Pines.

Featured in the Futures Series are Lotte Fox, (Raleigh, NC 2020) Katherine Schuster, (Kill Devil Hills, NC 2021) and Paris Fieldings (Suffolk, VA 2023).  Fox is ranked third on the PKBGT Futures Series Order of Merit and earned five top-5 finishes this season.  Katherine is ranked in a tie for 13th on the Futures Series Order of Merit and won the PKBGT Masters at Cutter Creek in the Futures Series.  Paris is ranked 18th on the Order of Merit standings and placed 2nd and 3rd in her two events this year.

Awards will be presented to the top-5 finishers in each series!

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
