Update: Hawkins & Bruxvoort Tied for the Lead at Carolina’s Classic

On Saturday, May 14th, the 2016 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the first round of the Carolina’s Classic at Forest Oaks Country Club. Forest Oaks, is known for the PGA Tour event that was held there for 30 years: the Wyndham Championship, formerly known as the Greater Greensboro Chrysler Classic, and the Greater Greensboro Open (GGO), is a demanding course for this two-day tournament. The event features a field 49 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour.

In the Bell Series after round 1, Hannah Rose Bruxvoort (Chapel Hill, NC 2018) and Emily Hawkins (Lexington, NC 2018) are tied for the lead the field by two strokes at three over par with a score of 75. Not far behind  is Hailey Freedman (Chapel Hill, NC 2018) at 5 over par with a score of 77, and Julianne Strauch (Advance, NC 2017) and Olivia John (Summerfield, NC 2018) at 6 over par both with scores of 78.

In the Futures Series after round 1, Charleigh Hodges (Mooresville, NC 2018) is leading the field by two strokes at one over par with a score of 73. Not far behind in second is Mallory Fobes (East Bend, NC 2019) at 3 over par with a score of 75.  Emelia Pack (Browns Summit, NC 2019) and Hailey Pendleton (Waxhaw, NC 2020) are in third at 6 over par with a scores of 78.

Sunny skies and temperatures in the around 70 are in the forecast for Sunday. Looks like a beautiful day for the final round!
