On Sunday, April 24rd, the 2016 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played play concluded for the Commonwealth Classic at Fawn Lake Country Club. Fawn Lake, nicknamed Arnold Palmer’s “Virginia Masterpiece”, is a demanding course for this two-day tournament. The event features a field 31 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour.
Winning the Prep Series with rounds of 78-77-155 was Erica Whitehouse (Mechanicsville, VA 2017). In second place today was Rebecca DiNunzio (Norfolk, VA 2019) with rounds of 81-78-159. In third place was Taylor Miano (Dobbs Ferry, NY 2020) with rounds of 79-82-164. In fourth place was Cynthia Tu (Vienna, VA 2019) 82-81-163. In fifth place was Julia Calomiris (Washington, DC 2018) with rounds of 85-79-164.
Winning the Futures Series was Tatum Walsh (Midlothian, VA 2021) with rounds of 78-84-162. In second and third place matching cards were Kathrine Schuster (Kill Devil Hills, NC 2021) and Sophie Simon (Potomac, MD 2021) each with a 163 two-day total. In fourth place was Vynie Chen (Centreville, VA 2020) with rounds of 84-82-166. In fifth place was Alyssa Cong (Germantown, MD 2020) with scores of 90-78-168.
The PKBGT returns to action next week on Saturday-Sunday, April 30 & May 1st with the Metrolina Classic @ Rock Hill Country Club in Rock Hill, NC .
The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
