Recap: Rice, Sambach, and Schuster Win PKBGT Masters

On Sunday, April 17, the 2016 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour concluded the PKBGT MASTERS at Cutter Creek Golf Club. The event featured a field 84 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour.  Blustery conditions continued into round two and the players played well despite these trying conditions.  

Winning the Bell Series by a decisive five shots was Callista Rice (Mars Hill, NC 2017) with rounds of 75-75-150.  The runner-up was Madison Isaacson (Greensboro, NC 2018) with rounds of 79-76 -155.  Finishing in third and fourth place respectively matching cards were Emily Hawkins (Lexington, NC 2018) and Lauren Freyvogel (Gibsonia, PA 2019) with rounds of 77-79-156.  Finishing in fifth and sixth place matching cards were Natalie Petersen (Holly Springs, NC 2017) and Caroline Wrigley (Wexford, PA 2019) with a 157 total. 

Winning the Prep Series with rounds of 80-76-156 was Amanda Sambach (Davidson, NC 2021).  In second place today was Alexis Sudjianto (Charlotte, NC 2019) with rounds of 82-80-162.  In third place was Cynthia Zhao (Toronto, Canada 2018) with rounds of 82-81-163.  In fourth place was Sophie Holland (Cornelius, NC 2020) 83-82-165.  In fifth place was Moon Cheong (Charlotte, NC 2017) with rounds of 83-83-166.  In sixth place with rounds of 82-85-167 was Mogie Adamchik (Raleigh, NC 2017).

Winning the Futures Series was Katherine Schuster (Kill Devil Hills, NC 2021) with rounds of 81-77-158.  In second and third place matching cards were Paris Fieldings (Suffolk, VA 2023) and Nicole Adam (Pinehurst, NC 2020) each with a 165 two-day total.  In fourth place was Caroline Crumrine (Wilmington, NC 2020) with rounds of 78-86-164.  In fifth place was Hailey Pendleton (Waxhaw, NC 2020) with scores of 82-84-166.  In sixth place was Emelia Pack (Browns Summit, NC 2019) with rounds of 81-86-167.

The PKBGT returns to action next week on Saturday-Sunday, April 23 & 24th with the Commonwealth Classic at Fawn Lake CC in Spotsylvania, VA. The event is the second event of the Mid-Atlantic Series and brings together players from North Carolina and Virginia.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
