Preview: PKBGT MASTERS @ Cutter Creek GC

On Saturday-Sunday, April 16-17, the 2016 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour plays the PKBGT MASTERS at Cutter Creek Golf Club. Cutter Creek, home of the East Carolina University Pirates women’s golf team, is a demanding course for this two-day tournament. The event features a field of 85 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour. In 2015,  Aneka Seumanutafa (Frederick, MD 2019) claimed the title by 5 strokes with a  2-under par 2-day total of 142.  The event is the second championship tournament of the 2016 season.

The Bell Series field features a full field of 30 golfers, highlighted by 6 of the top-30 players on the PKBGT Performance Index, including: Haeley Wotnosky (Wake Forest, NC 2018) ranked 5th, Emily Hawkins (Lexington, NC 2018) ranked 6th, Kathryn Carson (Mooresville, NC 2017) ranked 7th, Riley Smyth (Cary, NC 2018) ranked 17th, Keri Kenkel (Charlotte, NC 2017) ranked 26th, Callista Rice (Mars Hills, NC 2017) 29th. Other standout players in the field include: Grace Yatawara (Salisbury, NC 2016), Caroline Wrigley (Wexford, PA 2019), and  Lena Capoccia (Bethesda, MD 2018).

The Prep Series features a field of 26 girls and will be the 5th event on 2016 Prep Series which culminates at the Srixon Tour Championship this August at Greenville Country Club.  The field is led by current Prep Series Order of Merit leader Amanda Sambach (Davidson, NC 2021).  Sambach is the reigning Prep Series Tournament of Champions winner and won 7 times in the last 12 months, including the 2015 Order of Merit champion for the Futures Series.  Additional players to watch include current Top-5 Order of Merit players Alexis Sudjianto (Charoltte, NC 2019) and Hannah Rose Bruxvoort (Chapel Hill, NC 2018).

The Futures Series field features 29 golfers, highlighted by 10 of the top-25 players on the 2015 Futures PKBGT Order of Merit list, including: Nicole Adams (Pinehurst, NC 2020) in 2nd position, Mara Hirtle (Pinehurst, NC 2020) in 4th position, Lotte Fox (Raleigh, NC 2020) in 5th position, Emelia Pack (Browns Summit, NC 2019) in 6th position, Caroline Crumrine (Wilmington, NC 2020) in 7th position, Maria Atwood (Holly Springs, NC 2022) in 9th position, Shalie Williams (Shawboro, NC 2018) in 10th position, Mallory Fobes (East Bend, NC 2019) in 12th position, Hailey Pendleton (Waxhaw, NC 2020) in 21st position, and  Alisa Marie Caraballo (Troutville, VA 2019) in 22nd position.

The PKBGT MASTERS at Cutter Creek Golf Club brings together players from Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and Toronto, Canada. It should be a great tournament! Who will be golden?

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
