Preview: One-Day Open Series at Carolina Trace

The PKBGT returns to action this weekend with the first event of the One-Day Open Series at Carolina Trace Country Club.  The club features two 18-hole courses designed by Robert Trent Jones and was formed in 1959.Carolina Trace CC (Lake)

Featured in the Prep Series are Caroline Cahill, (Wilmington, NC 2017) Emily Hawkins, (Lexington, NC 2018) and Riley Smyth (Cary, NC 2018).  Cahill is currently ranked 16th on the PKBGT Performance Index and had a win in the Bell Series at the Palmetto Classic in mid-March.  Hawkins is currently ranked sixth overall on the Performance Index and finished in the runner-up spot at the 2015 PKBGT Invitational.  Smyth is ranked 17th on the Performance Index and last week finished runner-up at the Boar’s Head Inn Classic.

Featured in the Futures Series are Lotte Fox (Raleigh, NC 2020), Mara Hirtle (Pinehurst, NC 2020) and Emily Brubaker (Raleigh, NC 2020).  Fox had three top-5 finishes this season and is currently ranked in fifth in the Futures Series.  Hirtle is currently ranked in fourth in the Futures Series and Brubaker is ranked tied for 16th.

Awards will be presented to the top-5 finishers in each series.  We look forward to a great event and welcome our new PKBGT players and families!

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers affordable, high-quality nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
