Recap: Freyvogel, Strauch Win Boar’s Head Inn Classic

On Saturday-Sunday, April 2-3 the  PKBGT will host the Boar’s Head Inn Classic at the Birdwood Golf Course at UVA.  Birdwood, home to the University of Virginia women’s golf team, is an classic course with tricky, undulating greens and a wonderful host for this two-day Birdwood Country Club at UVAtournament.  The tournament features a field of 63 players from nine different states.

Winning the Bell Series was Lauren Freyvogel (Gibsonia, PA 2019) with rounds of 77-76-153.  The runner-up was Esther Park (Wilmington, DE 2019) with rounds of 81-73-154 and in third was Riley Smyth (Cary, NC 2018) with 74-80-154.

Winning the Futures Series was Julianne Strauch (Advance, NC 2017) with rounds of 84-78-162.  The runner-up was Alisa Marie Caraballo (Troutville, VA 2019) with rounds of 84-81-165 and in third was Tatum Walsh (Midlothian, VA 2021) with 85-81-166.

The PKBGT will return to action on Saturday, April 9th with the North Carolina One-Day Open Series tournament at Carolina Trace!

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers affordable, high-quality nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
