Preview: Boar’s Head Inn Classic at UVA

On Saturday-Sunday, April 2-3 the  PKBGT will host the Boar’s Head Inn Classic at the Birdwood Golf Course at UVA.  Birdwood, home to the University of Virginia women’s golf team, is an classic course with tricky, undulating greens and a wonderful host for this two-day tournament.  The tournament features a field of 63 players from nine different states.Birdwood Country Club at UVA

Featured in the Bell Series this weekend are Rachel Kuehn (Asheville, NC 2019), Caroline Curtis (Richmond, VA 2019) and Lena Capoccia (Bethesda, MD 2018).  Kuehn, who won this year’s PKBGT Invitational in the fall and the Tiger Classic at Clemson, is highly ranked on the PKBGT Performance Index at number eight and first on the Bell Series Order of Merit.  Curtis is ranked 12th on the Order of Merit and recently placed fouth at the Tarheel Classic at UNC Finley.  Capoccia is currently ranked 30th on the PKBGT Performance Index.

Featured in the Futures Series are Melissa Meng, (Blacksburg, VA 2020), Maria Atwood (Holly Springs, NC 2022) and Grace Huffman, (Lexington, VA 2018). Meng is currently ranked 3rd on the Futures Series Order of Merit a had two runner-up finishes this season at the PKB Junior and PKB Foundation Classic.  Atwood is currently ranked 11th on the PKBGT Order of Merit and Huffman is ranked in a tie for 19th.

Awards will be presented to the top-five finishers in both series at the completion of play on Sunday, April 3rd.  We look forward to another great PKBGT event and welcome all of our new players and PKB families!

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers affordable, high-quality nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
