Update: Jung, Rudolf leading at UVA

On Saturday, March 28, the 2015 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the first round of the Boar’s Head Inn Classic at Birdwood Golf Course. Birdwood, home to the University of Virginia women’s golf team, is an classic course with tricky, undulating greens and a wonderful host for this two-day tournament. The event features a field 39 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 425 members in 2014 and over 350 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.

In the Bell Series after round one, Josephine Jung (Ellicott City, MD 2016) is leading the field by one stroke at seven over par with a score of 79. Not far behind Jung is Caroline Curtis (Richmond, VA 2019) at eight over par with a score of 80 and Audrey Clawson (Sarver, PA 2016) at nine over par with a score of 81.

In the Futures Series after round one, Carley Rudolf (Virginia Beach, VA 2019) is leading the field by one stroke at nine over par with a score of 81. Not far behind Rudolf is Amanda Sambach (Davidson, NC 2021) at 10 over par with a score of 82 and Kendall Turner (Chesapeake, VA 2019) at 12 over par with a score of 84.

Sunny skies with temperatures in the mid 50s are in the forecast for Sunday. Looks like a beautiful day for the final round!

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
