On Sunday, March 8, the 2015 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour concluded the Tar Heel Classic at the UNC Finley Golf Club. Finley GC, home of the UNC Tar Heels women’s golf team, is a demanding course for this two-day tournament. The event featured a field 83 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 425 members in 2014 and over 350 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf. The event is ranked by the GolfWeek/Titliest national rankings and is the largest classic tournament of the season.
In the Bell Series, Gina Kim (Chapel Hill, NC 2018) shot five under par with a score of 67 to place first with a two-day total of 140. Jessica Spicer (Bahama, NC 2016) shot two under par with a score of 70 to place second with a two-day total of 146. Jennifer Chang (Cary, NC 2018) and Emilia Migliaccio (Cary, NC 2017) both shot two over par each with a scores of 74 to tie for third with a two-day totals of 147.
In the Futures Series, Anna Morgan (Spartansburg, SC 2019) shot one over par with a score of 73 to place first with a two-day total of 150. Lauren Freyvogel (Gibsonia, PA 2019) shot three over par with a score of 75 to place second with a two-day total of 152. Carley Rudolf (Virginia Beach, VA 2019) shot six over par with a score of 78 to place third with a two-day total of 156.
PKBGT returns to action in two weeks on Saturday-Sunday, March 21-22 with the Palmetto Classic @ Cobblestone Park Golf Club, the home course to the University of South Carolina women’s golf team. The event brings together players from Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia, and Ontario, Canada.
The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
