Preview: Rocket Tour PLAYERS at UGA

On Saturday-Sunday, February 14-15, the 2015 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour plays the Rocket Tour PLAYERS at the University of Georgia Golf Course. The golf course is home to the University of Georgia Bulldogs women’s golf team. The course also hosts the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic which is the oldest women’s collegiate tournament in the southern United States and boasts one of the toughest fields that the women will see all year. In 2013, the course was the host of the Women’s NCAA Division I National Championship. In addition to being an distinguish course in collegiate golf, the course also hosted the PGA Tour Web.com Stadion Classic Golf Tournament from 2010 to 2013. With its rich tournament history, the University of Georgia GC is an esteemed course for the first championship event of the 2015 season. The event features a field 34 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 425 members in 2014 and over 350 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.

The Bell Series field features 22 golfers, highlighted seven of the top-60 players on the PKBGT Performance Index, including: Lauren Lightfritz (Suwanee, GA 2016) ranked 20th, Jensen Castle (West Columbia, SC 2019) ranked 24th, Alyssa Montgomery (Knoxville, TN 2019) ranked 46th, Jacinta Pikunas (Youngstown, OH 2017) ranked 49th, Carolyn Markley (Maineville, OH 2015) ranked 53rd, Megan Sabol (Martinez, GA 2016) ranked 54th, and Kate Harper (Isle of Palms, SC 2016) ranked 59th.

The Futures Series field features 12 golfers, highlighted by four of the standout players on the 2014 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Madison Cross (Hickory, NC 2016), Anna Freeman (Aiken, SC 2017), Peyton Gillespie (Greenville, SC 2019), and Sophie Holland (Cornelius, NC 2020).

The Rocket Tour PLAYERS at the University of Georgia GC brings together players from players from Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, North Carolina, New York, Ohio, South Carolina, and Tennessee. It should be a great event! Who will be golden?

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
