On Friday, July 24, the 2015 played the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour plays the One-Day Open Series at Bermuda Run Country Club (West Course). One-day tournaments are designed for golfers of all skill levels, but are a great place for development golfers to “get in to the swing of things” playing tournament golf. The goal of One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course. The event featured a field 50 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 425 members in 2014 and over 350 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.
In the Prep Series, Madison Isaacson (Greensboro, 2018), Hailey Joy (Reidsville, NC 2018), and Muskan Uppal Cornelius, NC 2019) all shot six over par, each with scores of 77. There was a record-setting nine-hole sudden-death playoff where Joy made a beautiful birdie to win.
In the Futures Series, Emilee Wenmoth (Clemmons, NC 2017) shot two over par with a score of 73 to place first. Caroline Crumrine (Wilmington, NC 2020) shot three over par with a score of 74 to place second and Brianna Plummer (Shelby, NC 2016) shot five over par with a score of 76 to place third.
PKBGT returns to action on Monday, July 27 with the One-Day Open Series at Chapel Hill Country Club in Chapel Hill, NC. The event brings together players North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Virginia..
The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
