Recap: J. Spicer wins Peggy Kirk Bell Junior

On Monday, December 29, the 2015 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour concluded the Peggy Kirk Bell Junior at Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club. Pine Needles, host the US Women’s Open in 1996, 2001, and 2007, is among the most well know golf courses in the southern US and a ideal setting for this new event on the PKBGT schedule. The start of the second round was delayed slightly due to rainy weather. The course was saturated from consistent overnight rain, but despite the soggy conditions, the PKB Tour girls still played some outstanding golf. The event featured a field 61 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 425 members in 2014 and over 340 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf. In the Bell Division, Jessica Spicer (Bahama, NC 2016) shot one under par with a score of 70 to place first with a two-day total of 143. Elizabeth Bose (Norfolk, VA 2015) shot four over par with a score of 75 to place second with a two-day total of 147. Killian Casson (Greenville, NC 2015) and Sarah Spicer (Bahama, NC 2016) tied for third, both with two-day totals of 149. In the Futures Division, Jalen Castle (West Columbia, SC 2020) shot four over par with a score of 75 to place first with a two-day total of 146. Rachel Kuehn (Asheville, NC 2019) shot four over par with a score of 75 to place second with a two-day total of 148 and Carley Rudolf (Virginia Beach, VA 2019) shot even par with a score of 71 to place third with a two-day total of 150. The PKB Tour will return to action in a month with the PKB Foundation Classic at Mid Pines Inn and Golf Club in Southern Pines, NC. The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
