On Sunday-Monday, December 28-29, the 2015 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour will contest the Peggy Kirk Bell Junior at Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club. Pine Needles, host the US Women’s Open in 1996, 2001, and 2007, is among the most well know golf courses in the southern US and a ideal setting for this new event on the PKBGT schedule. The event features a field 66 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 425 members in 2014 and over 340- girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.
The Bell Division field features 34 golfers, highlighted by 10 of the top-50 players on the PKBGT Performance Index, including: Sarah Spicer (Bahama, NC 2016) ranked 3th, Jessica Spicer (Bahama, NC 2016) ranked 6th, Elizabeth Bose (Norfolk, VA 2015) ranked 11th, Samantha Vodry (Mooresville, NC 2016) ranked 17th, Jensen Castle (West Columbia, SC 2019) ranked 18th, Holly McCann (Raleigh, NC 2019) ranked 21st, Killian Casson (Greenville, NC 2015) ranked 23rd, Rhea Bhatia (Wake Forest, NC 2015) ranked 27th, Katharina Floyd (Chapel Hill, NC 2020) ranked 47th, and Emily Cox (Lancaster, SC 2017) ranked 49th.
The Futures Division field features 32 golfers, highlighted by five of the top-40 players on the 2014 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Rachel Kuehn (Asheville, NC 2019) in 10th position, Olivia John (Summerfield, NC 2018) in 14th position, Muskan Uppal (Cornelius, NC 2019) in 22nd position, Mary Slade White (Winston-Salem, NC 2019) in 30th position, and Cassie Paulin (Winston-Salem, NC 2017) in 37th position.
The Peggy Kirk Bell Junior brings together players from 9 states including Florida, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Virginia. It should be a great event!
The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
