Update: Sonoda, Holland lead PGS JR GIRLS

On Wednesday, June 24, the 2015 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the first round of the PKBGT PGS JR GIRLS CHAMPIONSHIPS at Deep Springs Country Club. Deep Springs, a fantastic Ellis Maples designed course, is a great course for the fourth championship tournament of the 2015 season. The event features a field of 38 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 425 members in 2014 and over 350 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf. The event, ranked by the GolfWeek/Titliest national rankings, is the fourth championship tournament of the 2015 season.

In the Prep Series after round one, Sarina Sonoda (Florence, SC 2015) is leading the field by two strokes at two under par with a score of 70. Not far behind Sonoda is Kathryn Carson (Mooresville, NC 2017) at even par with a score of 72 and Callista Rice (Mars Hill, NC 2017) at two over par with a score of 74.

In the Futures Series after round one, Sophie Holland (Cornelius, NC 2020) is leading the field by one stroke at three over par with a score of 75. Not far behind Holland is Alexis Sudjianto (Charlotte, NC 2019) at four over par with a score of 76 and Callie Montgomery (Moneta, VA 2017) at five over par with a score of 77.

Sunny skies and temperatures in the 90s are in the forecast for Thursday. Looks like a beautiful day for the final round. Who will be golden?
