Preview: PGS Jr Girls Championship at Deep Springs

On Wednesday-Thursday, June 24-25, the 2015 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour plays the PKBGT PGS JR GIRLS CHAMPIONSHIPS at Deep Springs Country Club. Deep Springs, a fantastic Ellis Maples designed course, is a great course for the fourth championship tournament of the 2015 season. The event features a field 40 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 425 members in 2014 and over 350 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf. The event, ranked by the GolfWeek/Titliest national rankings, is the fourth championship tournament of the 2015 season.

The Prep Series field features 20 golfers, highlighted by six of the top-55 players on the PKBGT Performance Index, including: Kathryn Carson (Mooresville, NC 2017) ranked 13th, Sarina Sonoda (Florence, SC 2015) ranked 25th, Callista Rice (Mars Hill, NC 2017) ranked 30th, Morgan Laird (Waxhaw, NC 2015) ranked 43rd, Kendall Dobbins (Summerfield, NC 2016) ranked 52nd, and Emily Hawkins (Lexington, NC 2018) ranked 53rd.

The Futures Series field features 20 golfers, highlighted by six of the top-30 players on the 2015 PKBGT Futures Series Order of Merit List, including: Carley Rudolf (Virginia Beach, VA 2019) in 1st position, Amanda Sambach (Davidson, NC 2021) in 2nd position, Kendall Turner (Chesapeake, VA 2019) in 4th position, Sophie Holland (Cornelius, NC 2020) in 7th position, Alexis Sudjianto (Charlotte, NC 2019) in 18th position, and Melissa Meng (Blacksburg, VA 2020) in 26th position.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
