Preview: One-Day Open Series at Longleaf

On Friday, June 19, the 2015 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour plays the One-Day Open Series at Longleaf Golf & Country Club. Longleaf, home to host to many Carolinas junior and amateur events, is a wonderful course for this one-day tournament. One-day tournaments are designed for golfers of all skill levels, but are a great place for development golfers to “get in to the swing of things” playing tournament golf. The goal of One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course. The event features a field 54 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 425 members in 2014 and over 350 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.

The Prep Series field features 17 golfers, highlighted some standout players on the 2015 PKBGT Performance Index, including: Mackenzie Battle (Aberdeen, NC 2018), Killian Casson (Greenville, NC 2015), Kendall Dobbins (Summerfield, NC 2016), Emily Hawkins (Lexington, NC 2018), and Elizabeth Nguyen (Pinehurst, NC 2017).

The Futures Series field features 37 golfers, highlighted by some standout players on the 2015 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Madison Cross (Hickory, NC 2016), Caroline Duggan (Holly Springs, NC 2019), Kristen Holman (Raleigh, NC 2016), Emelia Pack (Browns Summit, NC 2019), Emma Reid (Fletcher, NC 2018), and Amanda Sambach (Davidson, NC 2021).

The One-Day Open Series at Longleaf Golf & Country Club brings together players from North Carolina and Virginia. It should be a great event!

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
