On Wednesday, June 10, the 2015 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour plays the One-Day Open Series at Rock Barn Golf & Spa (Jackson Course). Rock Barn is home to the PGA Champions Tour Greater Hickory Kia Classic and the Jackson Course is an iconic course for this midweek one-day tournament. One-day tournaments are designed for golfers of all skill levels, but are a great place for development golfers to “get in to the swing of things” playing tournament golf. The goal of One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course. The event features a field 36 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 425 members in 2014 and over 350 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.
The Prep Series field features 10 golfers, highlighted by 2012, 2013, and 2014 defending champion, Abbey Hartsell (Hickory, NC 2015). Hartsell is the only player in PKB Tour history to win the same event three years in a row and is looking to make PKB Tour history again by winning at Rock Barn for the fourth consecutive year. Taylor Hinson (Belmont, NC 2017) and Grace Massengill (Hickory, NC 2016) will be giving Hartsell a run for her money though.
The Futures Series field features 26 golfers, highlighted by some standout players on the 2015 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Madison Cross (Hickory, NC 2016), Sophie Holland (Cornelius, NC 2020), Kristen Holman (Raleigh, NC 2016), Brianna Plummer (Shelby, NC 2016), and Ryann Sinclair (Mooresville, NC 2019).
The One-Day Open Series at Rock Barn Golf & Spa (Jackson Course) brings together players from North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. It should be a great event!
