On Saturday, November 8, the 2015 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the first round of the PKBGT INVITATIONAL at Grandover Resort (East Course). Host of the annual Bridgestone Golf Collegiate tournament, the 2012 NCAA DI Men’s regionals, and the 2011, 2014 & 2015 NCAA DIII Men’s National Championship, Grandover Resort is a challenging course for this three-day event. The event features 60 players. The field is incredibly strong with 22 of the players ranked within the top-500 by Golfweek/Titliest Junior Rankings, 16 players ranked within the top-500 by Junior Golf Scoreboard, and 17 players ranked within the top-30 by the PKBGT Performance Index. With its depth, this event will be the strongest field in PKB Tour history. Eight championship winners and 17 event winners from the 2014 season will be playing at the PKBGT INVITATIONAL.
After round 1, Emilia Miglaccio (Cary, NC 2017) is leading the field by two strokes at two over par with a score of 74. Not far behind Migliaccio there is a three-way tie for second between Rhea Bhatia (Wake Forest, NC 2015), Aneka Seumanutafa (Frederick, MD 2019), and Sarah Spicer (Bahama, NC 2016) each at four over par with scores of 76.
Sunny skies and temperatures in the low 60s are in the forecast for Sunday. It should be a great weather for “moving day” of the tournament. The PKBGT INVITATIONAL at Grandover Resort (East Course) brings together players from Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. The tournament is a highly ranked event by Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings, AJGA Performance Based Entry, and Junior Golf Scoreboard.
