Update: Crowded leaderboard at Furman

On Saturday, April 25, the 2015 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the first round of the Paladin Classic at Furman University Golf Club. Furman, home of the Furman University Paladin women’s golf team, is a classic course with tricky greens for this two-day tournament. The event features a field 62 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 425 members in 2014 and over 350 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.

In the Bell Series after round one, there is a three-way tie for first between Ashley Czarnecki (Greenville, SC 2016), Emily Cox (Lancaster, SC 2017), and Lauren Lightfritz (Suwanee, GA 2016). The three are leading the field by one stroke at one under par, each with scores of 71. Not far behind the leaders is Samantha Vodry (Mooresville, NC 2016) at even par with a score of 72; and Grace Massengill (Hickory, NC 2016) and Victoria Huskey (Greenville, SC 2016) at one over par, each with a scores of 73.

In the Futures Series after round one, Anna Morgan (Spartanburg, SC 2019) is leading the field by three strokes at three over par with a score of 75. Not far behind Morgan is Emily Anderson (Matthews, NC 2017) and Rachel Kuehn (Asheville, NC 2019) who are tied at six over par, each with scores of 78; and Anna Parramore (Greenwood, SC 2018) at seven over par with a score of 79.

Weather for Sunday’s round is beautiful with sunny skies with temperatures in the mid 70s. Looks like a beautiful day for the final round of the Paladin Classic!

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
