Recap: Lightfritz, Dunlap win at Furman

On Sunday, April 26, the 2015 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour concluded the Paladin Classic at Furman University Golf Club. Furman, home of the Furman University Paladin women’s golf team, is a classic course with tricky greens for this two-day tournament. The event featured a field 62 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 425 members in 2014 and over 350 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.

In the Bell Series, Lauren Lightfritz (Suwanee, GA 2016) shot even par with a score of 72 to place first with a two-day total of 143. Victoria Huskey (Greenville, SC 2016) shot one over par with a score of 73 to place second with a two-day total of 146. Grace Massengill (Hickory, NC 2016) and Samantha Vodry (Mooresville, NC 2016) tied for third, each with two-day totals of 147.

In the Futures Series, Emily Dunlap (Greenville, SC 2019) shot one under par with a score of 71 to place first with a two-day total of 152. There was a three-way tie for second between Anna Freeman (Aiken, SC 2017), Rachel Kuehn (Asheville, NC 2019), and Anna Morgan (Spartanburg, SC 2019) who all had two-day totals of 155.

PKBGT returns to action next week on Saturday-Sunday, May 2-3 with the Pennsylvania Classic @ Heritage Hills Golf Resort in York, PA. The event brings together players from Maryland, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
