Preview: Paladin Classic at Furman

On Saturday-Sunday, April 25-26, the 2015 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour plays the Paladin Classic at Furman University Golf Club. Furman, home of the Furman University Paladin women’s golf team, is a classic course with tricky greens for this two-day tournament. The event features a field 62 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 425 members in 2014 and over 350 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.

The Bell Series field features 30 golfers, highlighted by nine of the top-40 players on the PKBGT Performance Index, including: Lauren Lightfritz (Suwanee, GA 2016) ranked 11th, Jodee Tindal (Rock Hill, SC 2017) ranked 15th, Samantha Vodry (Mooresville, NC 2016) ranked 16th, Callista Rice (Mars Hill, NC 2017) ranked 19th, Baylee Evans (Lancaster, SC 2018) ranked 30th, Annie Collom (Davidson, NC 2015) ranked 32nd, Savanah Goodman (Easley, SC 2016) ranked 33rd, Isabella Rusher (Salisbury, NC 2015) ranked 35th, and Grace Massengill (Hickory, NC 2016) ranked 38th.

The Futures Series field features 32 golfers, highlighted by nine of the top-25 players on the 2015 PKBGT Futures Series Order of Merit list, including: Emily Anderson (Matthews, NC 2017) in 4th position, Bryson Bowman (Summerfield, NC 2017) in 7th position, Parker Melting (Mint Hill, NC 2018) in 9th position, Sophie Holland (Cornelius, NC 2020) in 10th position, Anna Morgan (Spartanburg, SC 2019) in 11th position, Rachel Kuehn (Asheville, NC 2019) and Madison Cross (Hickory, NC 2016) tied for 14th position, Madison Elliott (Little River, SC 2017) in 16th position, and Anna Freeman (Aiken, SC 2017) in 25th position.

The Paladin Classic brings together players from Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ontario, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. It should be a great event!

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
