On Saturday, April 11, the 2015 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the first round of the PKBGT MASTERS at Cutter Creek Golf Club. Cutter Creek, home of the East Carolina University Pirates women’s golf team, is a demanding course for this two-day tournament. The event features a field 74 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 425 members in 2014 and over 350 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf. The event, ranked by the GolfWeek/Titliest national rankings, is the second championship tournament of the 2015 season.
In the Bell Series after round one there is a tie for first place between Aneka Seumanutafa (Frederick, MD 2019) and Sarina Sonoda (Florence, SC 2016) who are leading the field by one stroke at two under par, each with scores of 71. Not far behind the leaders are Catherine Ashworth (Fuquay-Varina, NC 2015) and Delaney Shah (North Potomac, MD 2016) are tied for third place at one under par, each with scores of 72.
In the Futures Series after round one, Amanda Sambach (Davidson, NC 2021) is leading the field by one stroke at one over par with a score of 74. Madison Elliott (Little River, SC 2017) and Muskan Uppal (Cornelius, NC 2019) are tied for second at two over par, each with scores of 75. Kendall Turner (Chesapeake, VA 2019) is in fourth at five over par with a score of 78 and Carley Rudolf (Virginia Beach, VA 2019) is in fifth place at six over par with a score of 79.
Sunny skies and temperatures in the mid 70s are in the forecast for Sunday. It should be a great weather for the final round of the tournament. Who will be golden?
The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
